How to Get Replacement Parts

mech partsHow do you get replacement parts for your recliner?

Start With The Dealer

To get parts for your recliner, go directly to the furniture manufacturer, or one of their dealers (retailers).

Aside from just ordering parts, dealers should be able to answer any warranty questions that you have and perhaps assist with replacement part installation as well.

A word of caution here: Furniture store salespeople are paid by commission on their sales. So, they may or may not be helpful with your repair problem. So it's often best to go through a manager or service manager, as they are directly involved with customer service issues.

Why It Can Be Difficult To Obtain Parts

Contact the Manufacturer

If you can't get your parts from your dealer, you can try contacting the manufacturer directly. (Be aware that some manufacturers do not provide parts directly to consumers.)

Before You Place Your Parts Order

As long as the parts you need are still available and the furniture ID#s can still be found on your furniture, you should be good to go.

Here's what you'll need: You'll want to have those furniture ID#s handy when placing your order. It's also a good idea to have a couple of photos that you can email that show the part clearly -- in case you're having trouble describing it to the customer service rep.

How Long Does it Take to Get Parts?

For companies in the U.S., 2-4 weeks is typical for parts. Though in some cases it can take longer.

The Overseas Parts Challenge

Ordering furniture parts is not always the simple process it was years ago, particularly if you bought furniture that was produced overseas. While stateside parts may take 2-4 weeks to arrive, overseas parts (depending on availability) can take even longer if the stateside supply is depleted.

What You Need To Know Before You Order Parts Online

More Overseas Parts Now Available Online

Fortunately, efforts have been made to provide some of these overseas parts online. But if those parts are still covered by your warranty, you may still have to go through the dealer to avoid paying full price for them.

I've come across some overseas power reclining parts for sale online at amazon.com. I found some lift motors, power supplies and activation buttons at reasonable prices. [They can have quite a selection of sellers, so be sure to price shop to make sure you aren't overpaying!]

Some reclining mechanisms units are also listed for sale online. But these parts are often hard to identify and match up with your original parts. So be sure to use a seller with a favorable return policy if you attempt to buy these parts online. "All Sales Are Final" means the seller doesn't care if you get the correct part you need.
